Worcestershire sauce is a fermented liquid condiment flavouring used especially with grilled or barbecued meats. It is also used in cocktails and drinks.
The ingredients of a traditional bottle of Worcestershire sauce sold in the UK as "The Original & Genuine Lea & Perrins Worcestershire sauce" are malt vinegar (from barley), spirit vinegar, molasses, sugar, salt, anchovies, tamarind extract, onions, garlic, spice, and flavouring.
The "spice, and flavouring" is believed to include cloves, soy sauce, lemons, pickles and peppers.
Worcestershire sauce is primarily used to flavour meat dishes. It can be used as steak sauce, and is sometimes added to chili con carne.
Vegetarian and gluten free alternatives are available and some Worcestershire sauce powders are marketed as suitable for vegetarians. Vegetarian varieties omit anchovies, producing a sauce which is similar, although not considered a variety of Worcestershire sauce.
Where to find worcestershire sauce: Worcestershire sauce is usually found in the spices section or aisle of the grocery store or supermarket.
Food group: Worcestershire sauce is a member of the Soups, Sauces, and Gravies US Department of Agriculture nutritional food group.

So to start off with the first post, I decided to make a meal that screams of comfort food. Whilst it does take a bit of a while to get the meal done, once you take that first bite, heaven couldn’t seem closer if you were Adam trying to touch God’s finger in the “Creation of Adam” fresco created by Michaelangelo. The meal I speak of is Cottage Pie. There is much debate as to what exactly a cottage pie is and how it is different to a Shepherd’s pie...I don’t know. The dominant theory is that Sheperds pie uses lamb mince, whilst a cottage pie uses beef mince. I don’t know about you, but the term “Sheperds Pie” does not get my tastebuds going quite as well, so I prefer the term cottage pie. Besides, comparing the price of ground (mince) beef to ground lamb, a student would pick up the beef mince in a heartbeat without even so much as glancing at the lamb in the meat section. This cottage pie that I made is full of flavour, and just makes you want to cuddle up next to a fire and watch TCM movies all day either by yourself, or with a significant other. Here is the recipe:
Asian turkey burgers seasoned with fresh ginger, garlic, and soy sauce, then grilled and served on crisp romaine leaves. Lean, low-carb, and packed with savory flavor in every bite.
Aussie-style BBQ meatloaf with beef, sausage, and curry powder, basted with a dark, complex BBQ sauce featuring instant coffee, red wine, and Worcestershire. The meatloaf that earns its place at any cookout.
Batter-dipped fondue meatballs flash-fried tableside in a fondue pot, served with mustard and horseradish dipping sauces. A retro fondue party throwback that still earns its keep.
The Cincinatti Chili is, would you believe, an alternative to spaghetti sauce. It's mild and sweet (the cinnamon does that), and won't burn anyone's mouth unless you serve it boiling.
Classic pan-fried meatballs with ground beef, breadcrumbs soaked in milk, egg, onion, and Worcestershire sauce. Tender inside, browned outside. Makes 2 1/2 dozen in 35 minutes.
Crockpot Cincinnati chili made with lean chicken, simmered low with chili powder, a hit of unsweetened chocolate, and warm cinnamon and cloves. The Queen City classic, set-and-forget in the slow cooker.
