Crockpot Kowloon Chicken

An exotic and tantalizing chicken dish that's made with pineapple, water chestnuts and a bit of soy sauce.













Trans-fat Free


4 ½ pounds
cut up into parts
¼ teaspoon
1 clove 大蒜
1 cup 鸡汤
8 ounces 菠萝
one can
1 cup 荸荠
4 香葱,弹​​簧或葱
¼ cup 玉米淀粉
2 tablespoons 酱油,酱油
or to taste
1 tablespoon


Sprinkle chicken with salt and pepper and place in crockpot. Combine ginger, garlic, broth and syrup from pineapple. Cut pineapple slices into fourths. Arrange pineapple and water chestnuts (sliced) over chicken.

Pour ginger sauce over all. Cover and cook on low 3 to 4 hours, or until tender. Add green onions. Dissolve cornstarch in soy sauce and vinegar. Stir into pot.

Cover and cook on high 10 to 15 minutes or until slightly thickened. Serve with crisp Chinese noodles.

Looks yummy but way too high in sodium and calories for us!

Hi, thanks for your comment. I just checked the recipe, noticed the serving size should be 8 instead of 4. Now the calories and sodium look much more reasonable. You can always add less salt or soy sauce than the recipe calls for. Hope you will enjoy it :)

We also use low-sodium soy sauce, but the nutrition facts show sodium levels when using regular soy sauce.
