This cake earns its dapple name from coconut and pecans scattered through the apple-studded batter. The oil base makes it incredibly moist.

The cake bakes for a full hour and a half. While it’s in the oven, make a brown sugar, butter, and milk mixture that boils for 2 minutes.

Pour the hot topping over the hot cake. It soaks in, creating a sweet glaze.

Baking Tips

  • Beat oil and sugar until very stiff
  • Stir in apples, coconut, and pecans by hand
  • Pour topping immediately over hot cake
