25 minIf you grew up reading the Blondie comic strip, you already know exactly what this is.
Dagwood Bumstead’s famous sandwich is less of a recipe and more of a dare: pile literally everything in your kitchen between two slices of bread and somehow get your mouth around it.
We’re talking ham, bacon, meatloaf, a string of sausage, a lobster tail, sardines, a fried egg, cold gooey spaghetti, assorted cheeses, olives, four sliced tomatoes, a gallon of mayo, and a bottle each of ketchup and mustard.
Is it practical? Absolutely not.
Is it legendary? Without question.
Build it for a party, build it for laughs, or build it because you’ve always wanted to see what a cartoon sandwich looks like in real life.
Fun Facts
- The Dagwood sandwich has been a pop culture icon since the 1930s Blondie comic strip by Chic Young.
- The term “Dagwood sandwich” is actually in the dictionary, defined as a tall, multi-layered sandwich with a variety of fillings.
- This recipe is meant to be fun and absurd. Scale it down (way down) for something you can actually eat, or go full Dagwood and grab a camera.
