Grandma's Apple Pie

934bf93ebe138e35ea21 550

I use McIntosh or a combination of McIntosh & Cortlands as my family and I prefer a softer apple filling that holds together (I NEVER use Granny Smiths)...

Low Fat, Fat-Free, Low in Saturated Fat, Low Cholesterol, Cholesterol-Free, Trans-fat Free

2 ¼ cups all-purpose flour
¾ cup vegetable shortening
¾ teaspoon salt
cup water
ice cold
1 x Granny Smith apples
enough for a 9 inch pie, peeled and cut
¼ cup sugar
1 tablespoon all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1 x butter
1 x milk

You make the crust in a food processor if you don't like stirring.

Split dough in half, and line 9 inch pie plate with one half.

Cut apples in thin slices.

Combine sugar, cinnamon, flour, and pour over apples.

Place apple mixture in bottom crust of 9 inch pie plate.

Dot with butter.

Put on top crust, making vents to allow steam to escape.

Brush top crust with milk and sprinkle with cinnamon and sugar.

Bake at 450 for 15 minutes, then turn down to 375℉ (190℃) for 25 to 30 minutes.
