Directions

Prepare crust, then reduce oven temperature to 325℉ (160℃).

In medium-size, heavy-bottomed saucepan, combine all remaining ingredients but pecan halves.

Over medium-high heat, bring to a boil.

Cook, stirring constantly, until mixture coats back of a spoon, 3 to 5 minutes.

Remove from heat and stir in nuts.

Pour filling into prepared crust and bake in preheated oven 15 to 18 minutes.

Cool completely.

To cut: Run a paring knife around edges of pan.

Using sharp knife, cut into 3-inch bars or as desired.

Bars can be stored in airtight container at room temperature up to 1 week.

For the crust:

Preheat oven to 350℉ (180℃).

Coat 13-by-9-inch pan with vegetable oil spray.

In large bowl, combine butter with flour, powdered sugar and salt.

Stir with wooden spoon until mixture is combined and looks crumbly.

Transfer mixture to prepared pan and press evenly onto bottom and somewhat up sides of pan with your fingers.

Bake in preheated oven 12 to 15 minutes or until light golden.
