Directions
Combine eggs, sugar, shortening, and molasses.
Sift flour, measure, and sift with baking soda, salt, and spices.
Add alternately with milk to first mixture.
Beat until well blended.
If desired 1 cup chopped raisins may be added to batter.
Pour into well-oiled pan.
Bake in moderate oven (375 degrees F) about 40 to 45 minutes.
The loaf may be sliced in 2 layers, and marshmallows placed close together between the layers.
Cut in squares and garnish with whipped cream.
(Soy bean or lima bean flour may be substituted for 1 cup of the white flour).
