1 pound green beans
½ tablespoon butter
1 clove garlic
teaspoon salt
1 x black pepper
1 teaspoon lemon juice
¼ teaspoon paprika
4 tablespoons water
1 teaspoon olive oil
2 tablespoons almonds
toasted, sliced or slivered

Mix together butter, paprika and garlic in a small bowl. Set aside.

In a skillet, heat the oil over medium high heat.

Add the raw green beans and sauté (stirring frequently) for a few minutes until beginning to develop some colour. Add salt and a few grindings of black peppers.

Add 3 to 4 tablespoons of water, cover the pan and cook for about 2 minutes until the green beans have turned green and are just beginning to cook through.

Remove the cover and allow the water to evaporate.

Add the butter, garlic and paprika mixture. Mix well and sauté for 1 to 3 minutes until the green beans are crisp tender.

Add a squeeze of fresh lemon juice.

Serve sprinkled with the toasted almonds on top.

This recipe can be easily doubled and you may have to since they gobble them up mighty quickly.

No need to steam/boil, shock in ice water then re-heat to achieve perfect tender-crisp green beans. This fool-proof method uses one pan for easy clean-up and super fast and easy prep. The sauté in the pan added a bit of carmilized flavor, steam in the pan allowing the water to evaporate and then hit them with a flavored butter for some needed richness and taste.
