These scones were so easy to make, and they can be kept in a well-sealed bag or container in the freezer for up to at least one month. Not only good for breakfast, but also an easy snack. Just pop one or two in the microwave, and spread with some butter, or apple butter, or any jam. Delicious.
These are great for snacks or as appetizers! Fill with veggies as well.
Warm applesauce is cooked with a bit cinnamon and maple syrup, then filled into the folded whole wheat crepes. These delicious yet healthy crepes are ideal for breakfast. Make a bunch of crepes, store in an air-tight bag or container, then freeze them. Now you have the ready-to-go breakfast, a bit applesauce makes it to a whole new level.
A refreshing twist on classic Salisbury steaks. The added sweet red bell pepper, scallions and ginger really boost the flavor of the steak. The watercress gives a nutritional boost. This recipe could work equally as well served on a bed of mashed potatoes with gravy instead of the watercress.
This is always a hit! I tweaked it by using 1/2 c oil and 3/4 c orange juice and it turned out great. We made these into muffins and put them in gift bags for our out-of-town guests at our wedding and they all loved them. For muffins, we baked at 350 for 25 minutes and it made about 22 muffins per batch.
Whole roasting a chicken is a great way to economize. This herb roasted chicken always turns out moist and juicy with great flavor. I then package the leftover meat one cup at a time into zipper bags and store in the freezer for later use in casseroles or hashes. Then using the remains I made a homemade chicken stock that is much better than any store bought stock.
This recipe is my Great Grandmother Thorn's recipe. (GG's mother) So that would make it your Great Great Grandmother.
I recently came across another way to use up some of those cartons of oats and bags of bran spilling out of my pantry. Brandi of Bran Appetit posted an intriguing recipe for Brandi's Cookie Bars. I used her recipe with a few changes to make cookie bars of my own. Please visit Brandi's blog for the original recipe. And if you're a fan of oatmeal cookies and chocolate, make these now! Chili-glazed tofu over asparagus and rice with a sweet-salty soy-ginger sauce. A 30-minute one-skillet vegetarian dinner using boil-in-bag rice to clear weeknight dinner in under half an hour.
One of the best homemade mac n' cheese I've ever had. The flavor of the sauce was excellent. Instead of provolone I use asiago cheese. The bits of feta and spinach made for nice variety. Bread crumb topping added another layer of crunchy texture.
We love this quiche. It came out cheesy and just delicious. I used 1% milk instead of whole milk, and it was still very creamy. Of course, if you prefer a richer mouth-feel, you can use half and half.
Orange and ginger dressing is so refreshing, coriander spiced scallops go very well with it. Also it is so quick and easy to make.
A quick eye opener in the morning with my coffee. I always have the ingredients on hand.
This decadent brownie recipe was recently clipped from my local newspaper.
Orange Glazed Pork Roast cooks in an oven bag with orange juice, cinnamon, and thyme - the bag traps all the juices into a ready-made sauce. Easy hands-off dinner for 6.
