Ingredients

16 ounces dates
chopped
½ cup margarine
cup sugar
1 each eggs
well beaten
¼ teaspoon salt
2 teaspoons orange zest
grated
2 tablespoons orange juice
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
½ cup nuts
chopped
½ cup graham cracker crumbs

whole wheat, flakes, toasted
1 ¼ cups nuts
finely chopped

Directions

Mix dates, margarine and sugar in 3-quart casserole. Cover tightly and microwave on high 4 minutes.

Stir in egg and salt. Cover tightly and microwave on medium-high (70%) 3 to 4 minutes or until slightly thickened.

Stir in orange peel, orange juice, vanilla, ½ cup nuts and the cracker crumbs.

Let stand uncovered 10 minutes or until cool.

Stir in cereal. Shape into 1-inch balls, using buttered hands. Roll balls in finely chopped nuts.
