Directions

Simmer celery in reserved bean sprout liquid in Dutch oven or stock pot for 15 minutes; add onion and continue cooking for 15 minutes. Add ground beef, soy sauce, brown gravy/sauce and bean sprouts. Stir; add the sugar; mix well.

Combine the flour and water to make a paste. Slowly whisk into the chop suey to slightly thicken. Continue to simmer, uncovered, for 15 to 20 minutes.

Serve over hot cooked white rice and topped with crispy chow mein noodles, if desired.
