Directions

In a medium bowl, stir together flour, baking powder, soda and salt.

Set aside.

In a large bowl, beat together sugar and shortening until fluffy.

Beat in egg and vanilla. Stir about half the dry ingredients into the sugar mixture. Mix in sour cream, then stir in remainder of dry ingredients. Mix in apple. Spread evenly in a lightly greased and floured 8" round pan. In a small bowl, mix nuts, brown sugar, butter and cinnamon until crumbly. Sprinkle over coffee cake. Bake in a 350℉ (180℃) oven for 25 to 30 minutes, or until cake tests done. Serve warm.
