Directions
Heat a large pot over medium-high heat. Sauté the beef until beginning to develop a fond; those brown bits add flavor.
Add onions and garlic and continue cooking until aromatic, about 1 minute.
Add beef stock or broth, bring to a boil, cover, reduce heat and simmer for about 1 1/2 hours.
Stir in the tomato sauce, chili powder, and cumin; continue simmering on low heat for another hour, stirring occasionally.
Add water if needed. Taste and adjust seasoning as desired.
