15 minThese chocolate haystack spiders are the easiest no-bake Halloween treat you’ll ever make. Just melt chocolate chips, stir in crunchy chow mein noodles, and drop spoonfuls onto waxed paper.
Add candy eyes while the chocolate is still wet, and you’ve got a whole batch of creepy-crawly treats in under 15 minutes. Kids love helping shape these spiders, and they’re endlessly customizable with different candy decorations.
Make them ahead for Halloween parties, classroom treats, or trick-or-treat handouts.
Pro Tips
- Use a double boiler or low microwave power to prevent chocolate from seizing
- Work quickly once noodles are mixed in (the chocolate hardens fast)
- Add 2-4 tablespoons of water if the chocolate gets too thick to coat the noodles
- Press candy eyes gently into each cluster while the chocolate is still soft
Variations
- Use white chocolate or dark chocolate instead of semi-sweet for different spider varieties
- Add pretzel sticks as legs for extra crunch and a more realistic spider look
- Mix in a handful of mini marshmallows for textured cobweb-like clusters
