Recipe

This cake is my son's favorite chocolate cake. I think that my Grandma always had either a fresh cake or one of these in the freezer. It is delicious either way! It is a quick homemade dessert to make in a short amount of time. I make this a lot early in the morning to take to the office for later that day.

Ready

1 hrs

Ingredients

2 sticks of oleo
1 cup of water
1 t soda
3 T cocoa

dry ingredients:
2 cups flour
2 cups sugar

1/2 cup buttermilk
2 eggs

1 t vanilla

Icing:

1/2 cup oleo
3 T cocoa
6 T milk
1 t vanilla

Ingredients

2 sticks of oleo
1 cup of water
1 t soda
3 T cocoa

dry ingredients:
2 cups flour
2 cups sugar

1/2 cup buttermilk
2 eggs

1 t vanilla

Icing:

1/2 cup oleo
3 T cocoa
6 T milk
1 t vanilla

Directions

Preheat oven to 350*

Bring to a boil the oleo, water, soda and cocoa.

Add boiling mixture to flour and sugar. Beat.

Add buttermilk and eggs. Beat and add vanilla.

Bake for 30 minutes or until done. Tooth pick will come out clean. May be on large cookie sheet or regular cake pan. I probably put closer to 5 tablespoon of cocoa in the cake, but this is just a matter of what you and your family/friends enjoy more.

When cake has about 5 minutes left:

Icing: bring ½ cup oleo, 3 tablespoon cocoa & 6 tablespoon milk to a boil. Add 1 teaspoon vanilla. Pour over 1 1b of powdered sugar and beat. Ice cake while it is hot. Sometimes i poke holes in the cake with a tooth pick before pouring the icing on the cake.

My Notes:

I never beat the cake with anything but a fork. Although, I do use a mixer for the icing.
