Billy goats are soft date and nut cookies, sometimes called "rocks" due to their shape after baking. Children love them.

Directions
Cream the butter and sugar until light yellow.
Beat in the eggs, 1 at a time, then the vanilla extract.
Sift together flour, salt, and baking soda and add to the butter mixture.
Stir in dates and walnuts.
Drop rounded teaspoons of batter onto a greased baking sheet.
Bake at 350℉ (180℃) F until lightly browned on top, about 10 minutes.
