This is a traditional Canadian sweet, much loved and admired. The origin of the recipe seems to be lost in the mists of time, though everyone seems to agree that it comes from the town of Nanaimo, in British Columbia.
This recipe was created when I made a mistake in making it. It was originally suppose to a brownie type dessert, but I used a jelly roll pan and didn't use enough butter. The end result became a hit and is alway requested and raved about.
Moist, buttery and chocolaty cake looks so appealing as well. A perfect dessert when you have company coming over.
