Ingredients

4 pork loin chops
trimmed, 1 inch thick, up to 6 chops
*
salt and black pepper
*
flavoring
*
4 cups cabbage
coarsely shredded
3 apples
tart, cored, diced
½ onions
chopped
2 whole cloves
whole
*
½ bay leaves
*
1 3/8 cup sugar
1 cup water
2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar
2 teaspoons salt

Directions

  1. Season the pork chops with salt and pepper and brush with kitchen bouquet; set aside.

  2. Place the shredded cabbage, diced apples, and onion into your slow cooker.

  3. Add remaining ingredients excluding pork chops. Toss together well to evenly distribute spices. Arrange the pork chops on top of cabbage mixture, stacking to fit.

  4. Cover and cook on Low for 8 to 10 hours or on High for 4 to 5 hours.

Extra flavor pork chops

Quickly sear the pork chops in a hot skillet over medium-high heat, browning well on both sides, then set aside. Add the water (or use stock or a bit of wine) to the skillet and scrape up any brown bits then add to the crock pot and proceed according to directions above.

The brown bits of "fond" will help give the finished dish a richer flavor.

Love this....used keto sugar....excellent....would make it again

This recipe was delicious, with a few modifications. The sugar was omitted, and I only added 1 teaspoon of salt. I added 1/4 cup of boiled apple cider to the mixture, and when I fried the chops, I added maybe a teaspoon of boiled apple cider to each chop along with salt and pepper. I also added a few more cloves.
