Ingredients

10 ounces unsweetened chocolate
2 ½ cups butter
or margarine
10 large eggs
5 cups sugar
2 teaspoons salt
4 teaspoons vanilla extract
4 cups all-purpose flour
sifted
1 ⅓ cups walnuts
coarsley chopped
1 cup candied orange peel
optional

Directions

Melt chocolate with butter in top of double boiler over hot water.

Beat eggs, sugar, salt and vanilla in large mixer bowl.

Add melted chocolate mixture.

Mix until blended. Add flour gradually while beating on low speed.

Mix in nuts and candied orange peels if using.

Turn into 2 greased 18x12 inch baking pans, spreading mixture evenly in pans.

Bake at 350℉ (180℃) F 20 to 25 minutes, being careful not to overbake.

While still warm, cut into squares.
