Directions

Sift flour once, measure, add baking powder, soda, salt, and spices, and sift together three times.

Cream butter thoroughly, add sugar and cream gradually, together until light and fluffy.

Add egg, raisins, and nuts and beat well.

Add flour mixture, alternately with apple sauce, a small amount at a time, beating after each addition until smooth.

Bake in greased loaf pan, 9½ x 5½ x3 inches, in moderate oven (350℉/180℃) for 1 hour, or until done.
