Graveyard Treat recipe

Unlike New York style cheesecake, this cheese pie is much lighter and much lower fat; but it is still creamy, smooth and tasty, sour cream gives the extra zing, and the lemon zest brings the refreshing flavor.

The colors the fruits used in the cookies suggest those of the robes worn by the four ordres mendiants, monastic orders that originally lived on charity -- the Augustinians, Carmelites, Dominicans and Franciscans.

Very distinctive, thse macroons are not too sweet, but are crunchy and chewy and rich with the exotic flavor of toasted pine nuts.

If you have egg whites left over from other recipes, use them for making kisses. For the holidays you can dress them up by sprinkling some green sugar or red cinnamon hearts on each kiss to make them more festive.

You could adapt this recipe for any holiday. For Halloween I suggest using orange jello, and use pumpkin shaped cookie cutters. The little ones really like this recipe.
