Ingredients

1 pound butter
or margarine
1 x powdered sugar

½ teaspoon salt
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
4 ½ cups all-purpose flour
12 ounces semi-sweet chocolate
pieces, null, null

Directions

Cream butter and 2 cups powdered sugar. Add salt, vanilla and flour. Mix to blend. Stir in chocolate pieces. Pinch off pieces of dough. Roll into 1-inch balls and flatten with fork on baking sheet. Bake at 350℉ (180℃) for 15 minutes. Sprinkle with powdered sugar while hot.

These come out like shortbread and are fantastic. They are soft out of the oven and harden up as they cool. I cut the batch in fourth since it seemed like such a huge number of cookies, and my three year old daughter and I ate the entire tray in an afternoon! Make the whole batch!
