Chicken Kona
Submitted by sharmar
Chicken slow-cooks in soy sauce, white wine, and scallions, then gets brushed with honey and broiled or grilled until sticky and golden. Hawaiian-inspired and irresistibly sweet-savory.

Named after the sunny Kona coast of Hawaii, this chicken brings island vibes to your dinner table with almost no hands-on effort.
Boneless chicken breasts soak up a soy sauce, white wine, and scallion bath in the slow cooker for 3 to 4 hours. Then comes the finishing move: each piece gets brushed with honey and hit with high heat under the broiler (or on the grill) until caramelized, sticky, and golden brown.
That soy-honey glaze is the kind of thing you’ll be licking off your fingers. No shame.
Kitchen Tips
- Brush the honey in several thin layers under the broiler rather than one thick coat; this builds up a lacquered, crackling glaze
- The grill option gives you gorgeous char marks and a smoky edge that takes this over the top
- Keep a close eye during broiling since the honey can go from golden to burnt in seconds
- Slice the finished chicken over rice with some of the crockpot braising liquid spooned on top for a quick plate
