Braised Green Beans in Tomato-Garlic Sauce

Simply braise green beans in a tomato sauce that is cooked with garlic and onion, tasty, juicy and refreshing!













Low in Saturated Fat, Low Cholesterol, Cholesterol-Free, Trans-fat Free, Good source of fiber, Very low in sodium, Low Sodium


1 tablespoon olive oil
1 each onions
3 cloves garlic
or to taste, freshly minced
1 cup cherry tomatoes
or grape tomatoes, pureed
16 ounces green beans
ends removed, 1 pound
1 x salt and black pepper
to taste
4 tablespoons basil
leaves, freshly and thinly sliced


Add the olive oil in a large nonstick skillet over medium heat until hot.

Add the onions, and cook for4 to 6 minutes until onions are soft.

Stir in the garlic and keep cooking for 1 to 2 minutes.

Stir in the tomato purée, and let simmer for 4 to 6 minutes until some of the liquid has been evaporated.

Stir in the green beans, cover and cook until teaspoon beans are tender-crisp, 18 to 20 minutes, stirring once or twice during the simmering.

Season with salt and black pepper to taste.

Divide among the serving plates and sprinkle some fresh basil.

Serve and enjoy!

First we had so many fresh and ripe cherry tomatoes, second we had some still fresh green beans, so we really needed to use both of them up before they went any farther. Then we came out this recipe, I think you can use normal or canned tomatoes, but I do believe cherry tomatoes are the best, because they taste better than all the other varieties. The recipe was very easy, and letting the green beans simmer in the tomato sauce that was cooked with garlic and onion was absolutely a great idea, which added tons of yummy flavors into beans. At the end it turned out tender, juicy and super delicious.
