Directions

Melt butter; add beef, onion, garlic, and mushrooms.

Sauté until meat loses red color and onion tender, stirring with fork to break up the meat.

Add wine, lemon juice, bouillon cubes and water.

Simmer uncovered for 10 minutes. Add noodles, cover and simmer for 15 minutes or til noodles are tender, adding more water if necessary.

Season with salt and pepper. Stir in sour cream and heat gently.

Sprinkle with parsley.

I know this recipe. It was taken from the Women's Day Encyclopedia of Cookery, Vol. 2. I remember it because of how good it was when I was a kid. Kind of like a quick, poor man's Stroganoff. The mushrooms and the wine really elevate the dish, especially if you use a good wine and flavorful mushrooms. My mother made it would ground sirloin, so it had a nice, beefy flavor. However, we simmered the beef longer, for at least 25 mins, before adding the noodles. It makes the meat more tender
