20 minThis is the dessert that shows up at every family reunion and leaves no leftovers. Sliced angel food cake lines the bottom of the dish, gets blanketed with a sweet cream cheese spread, then piled high with whipped topping and fresh strawberries.
The real magic is the glaze. Sugar, flour, water, and strawberry jello cook down into a glossy sauce with a subtle almond flavor that clings to every berry. Pour it on, let it set, and watch it transform into something that looks like it came from a pastry shop.
No oven required for assembly. Just slice, spread, layer, and chill.
Kitchen Tips
- Soften the cream cheese fully before mixing with the powdered sugar. Lumps are hard to smooth out once the layers are built.
- Let the glaze cool to room temperature before pouring over the strawberries, otherwise it can melt the whipped topping underneath.
- This dessert holds well overnight in the fridge and actually tastes better the next day as the flavors meld together.
