30 minWhite chocolate and orange is a flavor combo that just works. Fresh grated orange zest perfumes the buttery dough, while white baking chips add creamy sweetness that plays beautifully against the citrus tang.
Chopped walnuts bring a bit of crunch and earthy richness to balance all that sweetness.
The dough comes together fast, and cookies bake in under 10 minutes with lightly browned edges and soft centers. At 54 cookies per batch, you’ll have plenty to share (or not).
Kitchen Tips
- Grate orange zest before juicing for easiest prep and brightest flavor
- Use orange extract OR fresh orange juice, not both (too much liquid)
- White baking chips (not white chocolate bars) work best for structure
- Space cookies 2 inches apart; they’ll spread slightly during baking
- Watch closely at 8 minutes; edges should just turn golden
Variations
- Cranberry Orange White Chocolate: Add ¾ cup dried cranberries for tart contrast
- Lemon White Chocolate: Swap orange for lemon zest and lemon extract
- Orange Almond: Replace walnuts with sliced almonds, add ¼ teaspoon almond extract
