This classic stovetop sweet and sour meatball recipe builds a glossy sauce right in your skillet, coating each meatball in tangy-sweet perfection.

Cornstarch and sugar create the base, then pineapple chunks with their syrup, soy sauce, and vinegar bubble into a thick glaze that clings to every curve.

Cooked meatballs simmer in this sauce for 10 minutes, soaking up flavor, before green peppers join the party for a final 5-minute cook that keeps them crisp-tender.

Kitchen Tips

  • Cornstarch slurry technique: Mix cornstarch with sugar before adding liquids to prevent lumps in your sauce.
  • Don’t skip the simmer: That 10-minute meatball bath lets flavors penetrate deep into the meat.
  • Pepper timing matters: Add peppers in the final 5 minutes only, preserving their snap and bright color.
