Instead of traditional hot dog, braising leeks and apples in cider adds incredibly delicious flavour to hot dog!

or butter

CUPS ML LEEKS
thinly sliced, white and pale green parts

EACH EACH APPLES
any kind, peeled, cored and diced

TEASPOON ML CARAWAY SEEDS

PINCH PINCH ALLSPICE
ground *

CUPS ML APPLE CIDER
or 1/4 cup bourbon *

EACH EACH HOT DOGS AND HOT DOG BUNS
grilled *

X X DIJON MUSTARD
as needed *

CUP ML CHEDDAR CHEESE
shredded, about 2 ounces

Directions

Add olive oil or butter in large skillet over medium heat.

Put leeks and apple.

Cover and cook until tender, stirring occasionally, 8 to 10 minutes.

Stir in caraway seeds and allspice, season with salt and pepper to taste.

Add cider, bring to boil. Reduce heat to medium-low.

Simmer, uncovered, until most of liquid is cooked away, 16 to 18 minutes.

Arrange grilled buns on plates.

Spread each with mustard as needed, then top with grilled hot dogs.

Sprinkle dogs with cheese and top with leek mixture.

Serve warm.
