Ingredients

1 cup butter
2 ½ cups all-purpose flour
1 ½ cups sugar
2 large eggs
1 ounce food coloring

2 teaspoons cocoa powder
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 cup buttermilk
1 teaspoon vinegar
cream cheese frosting
8 ounces cream cheese
softened
1 pound powdered sugar
¼ cup butter
softened
2 teaspoons vanilla extract

Directions

Cake:

Cream butter and sugar; add eggs, and beat well.

Add coloring and water.

Sift flour, salt, soda and cocoa together, and add to creamed mixture with milk and vanilla.

Add vinegar (fold in lightly.)

Grease and flour 2 (9 inch) round cake pans.

Bake at 350℉ (180℃) for 30 minutes.

Let cool.

Cream Cheese Frosting is delicious on this cake.

Frosting:

With electric mixer, beat all ingredients together until light and creamy.
