60 minSometimes the simplest recipes are the ones that save the day. This three-ingredient apple pie uses chunky applesauce as the filling, which means zero peeling, zero slicing, and zero worrying about whether your apples will cook down properly.
Pour two jars of chunky applesauce into a store-bought pie shell, dust with cinnamon, top with the second crust, and bake. That’s the whole recipe.
It comes out with a golden flaky crust and a soft, spiced apple filling that tastes like you spent an hour on it. Let it cool completely before slicing for the cleanest cuts.
Kitchen Tips
- Use the chunkiest applesauce you can find for a filling that has real texture and body.
- Cut steam vents in the top crust so the filling doesn’t bubble over and make a mess of your oven.
- Brush the top crust with a little milk and sprinkle of sugar before baking for a prettier golden finish.
