Some recipes don’t need to be fancy. They just need to taste like home.

This is one of those. Canned chicken gets mixed with sharp cheddar cheese spread, a little mayo, chopped onion, and green bell pepper.

Spread it between small buns, wrap them in foil, and let the oven do the rest.

In 20 minutes you’ve got warm, melty, savory little bundles that kids and grown-ups inhale at the same speed.

Leftover rotisserie chicken works just as well if you’ve got some in the fridge.

Kitchen Tips

  • Wrap each bun tightly in foil so the steam melts the cheese spread evenly
  • For open-faced style, split hamburger buns, spread the mixture on each half, and bake uncovered on a sheet pan for crispier tops
  • These travel well for potlucks and picnics. Wrap in foil, toss in a cooler, and reheat when you arrive.
