This set-it-and-forget-it bread machine cheddar loaf uses cottage cheese for tenderness and sharp cheddar for bold flavor. Just dump ingredients in the machine and walk away for hands-free crusty bread.

Cottage cheese is the secret ingredient that gives this bread its ridiculously tender crumb without any kneading or babysitting.

It keeps the bread moist for days and adds a subtle tang that makes the sharp cheddar really pop.

Bread machines do all the work here. Toss everything in, press start, and come back to a golden loaf with actual crust (not the sad, soft stuff from most bread machine recipes).

Sharp cheddar is nonnegotiable. Mild cheddar just disappears into the bread, but the sharp stuff gives you real cheese flavor in every bite.

Bread Machine Tips

  • Use room temperature cottage cheese and egg so the yeast activates properly
