This cheddar dill bread has been one of the popular printed recipes for years. I finally made it yesterday, and it turned out cheesy and delicious. Used old sharp cheddar, which really gave the bread nice tangy taste; I also added a bit of chopped fresh and pickled jalapeno peppers, a few dashes of hot pepper sauce to give some heat to the bread. I used 1 3/4 cups white whole wheat flour and 1/4 cup all-purpose flour, the bread came out delightfully fluffy. Cheddar bread lover or not, you will love this one!

Great little recipe! I substituted dried basil for the dill and 1 teaspoon of salt for the sugar (could have had less salt. I melted the butter as I was in too much of a hurry to chop it in. And I used wholewheat self-raising instead of white. It turned out to be a quick, tasty and successful loaf! Many thanks!

I'm anxious to try this one! I might do as the other reviewer said and use a little smidge of salt and no sugar. I will use dill though, at least the first time. :)

This bread was so delicious, it's hard to go wrong with cheddar. Hope you will love it as much as I do :)
