In a latest experiment with homemade soups, I combined the ideas from my own Hot and Sour Soup and my mother-in-law's Shanghai Meatball Soup. The result was unquestionably great and both my sons (who are excellent cooks themselves) declared it my finest effort. I hope you enjoy it, too!!
The flavor was amazing, the aroma during the cooking filled up our entire house. We used chicken broth instead of beef broth and water, and it made a very tasty base for the soup. A few slices of good bread was all we served with this soup. YUM!
A delicious meat pie is great at Christmas. Feel free to use ground beef, pork, lamb or a combination of different meats. Make a few of these meat pies a few weeks in advance, then freeze them in the freezer. Reheat it in the oven directly out of the freezer just before serving.
