We were given a lot of strawberries and I had to figure out what to do with them so they didn't go bad. So I came up with this recipe. I hope everyone likes it as much as my kids did. I prefer fresh strawberries over strawberry extract because it gives it a more fruitful flavor. But the extract is good as well. You decide.

These can be served warm or at room temperature with a pat of unsalted butter. Because there’s so much sweetness inside—from the cranberries, chocolate and orange zest—preserves would be overkill. The flavor was combination was excellent. Next time will add some whole dried chili peppers to give it a bit more kick. We served it over brown rice and could hardly stop eating it.

The Japanese version of rice is called "Japonica". It's short grain which makes the rice round and extremely sticky when cooled. You can also use aborio or risotto rice which works well.
