Pan seared scallops served on a bed of fennel puree with a sweet Balsamic drizzle. This recipe was inspired by Masterchef New Zealand contestant Rob and I've modified the ingredients and instructions to match those that are commonly available in North America along with experimentation to make the recipe lower in fats yet every bit as flavorful.
An amazingly moist and tasty rhubarb cake. The applesauce and yogurt really made the cake super moist and delicious. Considering it's a butter or oil free cake, when I had my first piece, I realized that you really didn't need any butter or oil. All the ingredients were just perfectly balanced, the cake was absolutely a winner!
A burst of colour ready for the Summer, can’t wait! The two main ingredients are a match made in health heaven, recent health claims suggest the benefits of beetroot include prevention of dementia and can aid in lowering blood pressure, while studies also suggest that cauliflower can aid in warding off heart disease and cancer.
If you’re looking for a green smoothie recipe that’s nutritious and delicious then this is the one for you. It’s made with only 3 ingredients and the grapes give this healthy drink a real sweet taste, unlike other green smoothies that can sometimes taste quite bitter. It makes the perfect healthy breakfast or snack!
This Chunky Blueberry Sauce is a versatile topping that balances sweet and tart flavors. With just four ingredients, it’s easy to prepare and adds a burst of flavor to breakfast dishes, desserts, or even savory pairings like grilled meats. The sauce thickens naturally as it simmers, creating a luscious texture with whole berries for a rustic appeal.
Instead of baking in the oven, I cooked it in a skillet. Browned the onions with a bit olive oil and garlic first, next browned carrots and celeries; then added remaining ingredients, brought to a boil, and simmered for about 30 minutes. Very tasty and filling, I had it with a few warm corn tortillas. Yum!
This recipe is based on the one from Jean Christoph Novelli's grandmother Louise's recipe. He call's it "The Most Amazing Tomato Sauce on the planet" I agree. This is not the exact recipe (I tweaked it very slightly and made some educated guesses on the amounts of various ingredients but based upon the taste I believe it is probably very close.
Oven-Dried heirloom tomatoes are juicy yet tender, line these yummy bites underneath other topping ingredients in order to prevent from being burnt when the pizza is baked in the oven. There are so many layers of great textures and flavors, you will find all these delicious goodness in every bite of this freshly baked pizza.
I loved this salad so much, I had to ask the chef for the recipe. I knew it had to be easy but there was an ingredient that I couldn't figure out. That's because I've never even heard of it before-Sumak! Pair this up with some hummus and bread and you will be so happy!
Halloween gag cookies rolled in Grape-Nuts and served from a clean litter box with a scoop. Chocolate and gingerbread dough logs shaped like, well, you know. Harmless fun.
The Winter Wonderland continues here in Upstate NY, and for those who aren’t lucky enough to be somewhere tropical right now…well…we wish we were. Though I can’t get to somewhere warm right now, I rounded up the most sunshine-inspired ingredients in my kitchen and combined them with mega-vitamin packed kale for a tasty tropical treat.
This soup makes good use of those pesky leftover pieces of dried lasagna noodles you have after you've made your lasagna and they've been just sitting in their box in your pantry. Because this recipe has ingredients found in traditional lasagna, it really does taste like the real thing, only much easier to prepare. Serve with garlic toast.
This is not your classic bundt cake that's packed with not-so-good-for-you ingredients. The cake is made with 100% whole wheat flour, grapeseed oil, Greek yogurt, low-fat cream cheese, and fresh raspberries. The ganache doesn't have any butter or cream, it contains cocoa powder, honey, grapeseed oil and Greek yogurt. Super chocolaty, fudgy, moist and packed with goodness.
Mushroom turnovers in a cream cheese pastry with a sauteed mushroom-cream filling and optional sherry. An elegant make-ahead appetizer that freezes well before baking.
It's a real comfy meal, and I always serve it with some homemade cabbage, daikon or cucumber kimchi (see links below). Absolutely delicious!
Found this recipe in donna hay magazine, and I just happened to have all the ingredients this recipe called for. I did make a few changes and cook it differently. The frittata came out delicious, but next time I will cook it on the stove top first to give a nicely browed bottom, then broil at the last a few minutes.
