1 hrsThis is the lasagne that earns its spot in the family recipe box. Layers of noodles stacked with a simmered ground beef and tomato sauce on one side and a creamy three-cheese mixture of ricotta, cottage cheese, and Parmesan on the other.
The meat sauce gets its flavor from oregano, basil, garlic salt, and a good 30-minute simmer with tomato paste and canned tomatoes. The cheese layer is enriched with eggs and parsley so it holds together in neat slices.
Topped with melted mozzarella and an extra hit of Parmesan, then baked until bubbling. Let it rest for 15 minutes before cutting, or you’ll be serving soup.
Pro Tips
- Cook and drain the noodles well so excess water doesn’t make the lasagne soggy
- Mix the cheese filling in a separate bowl and spread it in one even layer for clean slices
- Let the assembled lasagne rest a full 15 minutes after baking; this sets the layers so they hold together
- This freezes well, both before and after baking, for easy make-ahead dinners
