Directions
Mix together the butter, cream cheese, egg yolk and orange juice. Add dry cake mix; stir in orange zest, raisins, walnuts and basil. Chill dough.
Preheat oven to 350℉ (180℃); butter cookie sheets. Roll chilled dough into ½-inch balls and place on cookie sheets. Flatten each ball with a fork. Bake for 10 to 15 minutes.
For a bit of artistry, attach a small paper or silk leaf using a dab of confectioner's sugar icing.
Makes 6 to 7 dozen.
Variation: Lemon cake mix and 1 tablespoon frozen orange juice concentrate can be substituted for the orange cake mix and orange juice.
