My mother’s pound cake recipe. Always brings back memories. Makes two pound cakes.

CUPS ML CAKE FLOUR

TEASPOONS ML BAKING POWDER
1 ¾ 414
CUPS ML BUTTER

CUPS ML SUGAR
1 ¼ 296
CUPS ML EGG WHITES
½ 2.5
TEASPOON ML VANILLA EXTRACT
¼ 1.3
TEASPOON ML ALMOND EXTRACT *

Directions

Sift flour once, measure, add baking powder and sift together three times.

Cream butter thoroughly, add sugar gradually and cream together until light and fluffy.

Add egg whites, ¼ cup at a time, beating well after each addition.

Add flavoring and beat vigorously. Turn into two loaf pans 9×5×3 inches, which have been greased, lined with heavy paper and again greased.

Bake in slow oven for 40 minutes.
