Bean Patties

I liked it, though it did fall apart when I turned it (they go back together easily). The flavor was bland, but that's easily fixed. I will be making it again, next time I will try using the whole egg, oh and the sauce gives it a really nice kick. Good recipe













Low Cholesterol, Trans-fat Free, High Fiber


16 ounces pinto beans
rinsed, drained
½ cup cheddar cheese
shredded, lowfat
¼ cup bread crumbs
2 tablespoons scallions, spring or green onions
with tops, chopped
1 teaspoon worcestershire sauce
¼ teaspoon black pepper
teaspoon salt
1 each egg whites
4 each hamburger buns
whole wheat
4 each tomatoes
4 each lettuce
Horseradish sauce
½ cup yogurt, low-fat
2 teaspoons horseradish sauce


Spray 10 inch nonstick skillet with nonstick cooking spray.

Mash beans in med bowl.

Mix in cheese, bread crumbs, onions, worcestershire, pepper, salt and egg white.

Shape into 4 patties.

Cook in skillet over med heat about 10 minutes turning once until light brown.

Serve on buns with horseradish sauce, tomato and lettuce.

This was my first time cooking them, I think next time, I might put the whole egg in. I found that the patty had a really hard time staying together. I think I might add more seasoning to it as well (rather bland).
All in all, I really liked it.
