This used to be pub food in the very old times in Germany as you could store it for a long time - no fridge was around at that time, only a pantry. It is perfect as a cold snack for long road trips.

A healthified low-fat version of onion soup for your slow cooker.

About half of the beans I used were chili beans. And I used a Guinness beer. I (roughly) seeded the jalapenos and this was surprisingly still spicy. A cheap cut of beef works quite well; the beef chunks get so tender and this is an overall delicious dish. I froze half of it.

Very easy and inexpensive and simple to scale the recipe up or down.

Stuffed peppers made with ginger rice, topped with aged sharp cheddar and tomato sauce.
