Cream cheese melts into butter and milk with garlic powder and Parmesan in this fast Alfredo sauce that comes together faster than your pasta water boils.

When you need Alfredo sauce right now and don’t have time for slow cream reduction, cream cheese is your secret weapon for instant thickness and tang.

The brick of cream cheese emulsifies the butter and milk into a cohesive sauce that clings to noodles without any waiting around.

Garlic powder keeps things shelf-stable simple while Parmesan adds that nutty, salty finish every Alfredo needs.

This sauce thickens fast, so have milk standing by to thin it if you overcook by even a minute.

Kitchen Tips

  • Cut cream cheese into cubes before melting so it incorporates smoothly without lumps
  • Whisk constantly as you add milk or you’ll get cream cheese clumps floating in thin liquid
  • Make sauce while pasta cooks, then toss together immediately because this version doesn’t hold well
