2 cup sugar
1/2 cup melted butter
3 eggs
1/2 cup flour
1/2 cup buttermilk
pinch salt
1 tsp vanilla
3-4 Tbsp cocoa
Mini chocolate morsels
Finely chopped pecans

Directions

mix together all ingredients

place mini chocolate morsels and finely chopped pecans on bottom of uncooked pie crust I don’t know an amount on these two optional items…because I would never attempt to ruin a good pie) ;-)

pour mixture over chocolate chips and pecans

Bake @ 350℉ (180℃) for 1 hr until set (I rarely cook this pie for 1 hour. I set a timer for 45 minutes and then check every 3 to 5 minutes after that. I also cover the crust edge with foil while baking to keep it from burning)

Top with whip cream (I’ve never eaten buttermilk pie with whip cream but it’s on this recipe, I would highly recommend a big glass of cold milk, no whip cream)

I usually double this recipe and pour equal amounts in 3 uncooked pie crusts/pans. I use 1 tablespoon of vanilla when doubling the recipe.
