Brunswick stew is an American Southern cooking recipe that features a tomato base with vegetables, beans and, meats. Originally made with rabbit, squirrel, and even opossum, this version use stewing beef, chicken, and ham.

The secret to tender baked beans is to leave the salt out until they are finished cooking. For some reason, salt toughens them. To pamper your tummy, rinse off the beans when they are finished soaking in several changes of cold water. This recipe is easy to prepare ahead and cooks in only two hours.

Basic Sauce is used over and over again to slow-simmer a number of foods. It imparts its own flavor to what is cooked, and grows more savory with the cooking of different foods.
