Directions
Preheat oven to 350℉ (180℃).
Coat the cubed beef lightly with flour and brown in oil (or you can place the coated meat on a broiler pan and brown it in the oven (saves time and has the added option of not being fried in oil to reduce the overall amount of fat).
Place the beef into a stewing pan (I used a large turkey roasting covered pan), add carrots cut into chunks, potatoes in chunks, and onion.
Add enough water to just cover everything and place it in the oven for 2½ hours.
After the stew has been in the oven for approx. 2½ remove and gently stir in the packaged dry gravy mix (there is no need to mix it with water -- there will be enough water in the stew).
Return to the oven for another 5 minutes to cook the gravy. Remove, stir and serve.
