Chick Peas with Garlic and Green Chillies

Ingredients

6 each garlic cloves
crushed or minced
½ teaspoon cumin seeds
1 x stock
or sherry for sauteeing

1 tablespoon tomato paste
mixed with
3 tablespoons water
15 ounces chickpeas (garbanzo beans)
canned, drained
1 medium potatoes
peeled, diced
½ cup water
½ teaspoon salt
1 each green chili peppers
freshly chopped, or to taste

½ teaspoon cumin
ground
1 x lemon juice
few drops

1 x cayenne pepper
optional

Directions

Sauté the cumin seeds and garlic in stock or sherry for 2 minutes then add the diluted tomato paste and cook for 1 minute longer.

Then add the chick peas, water, potato, salt, green chillies, ground cumin, and lemon juice.

Simmer for 20 mins.

Serve with bread.
