Ingredients

2 1/2 cups flour, all-purpose
3/4 teaspoon allspice
1 cup sugar granulated
1/2 teaspoon cloves
3/4 cup brown sugar packed
1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
1 teaspoon baking powder
1 1/3 cups buttermilk
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 cup vegetable shortening
1 teaspoon salt
3 large eggs
3/4 teaspoon cinnamon

Directions

Grease and flour 2 round layer pans, 8 or 9 inch.

Measure all ingredients into large 1/2 minute on low mixer bowl.

Blend scraping bowl occasionally.

Pour into pans.

Bake in preheated 350 degrees F oven for 45 minutes or until wooden toothpick inserted comes out clean.

Cool 10 minutes and remove from pans.
