Four ingredients, one blender, and you’re out the door with a creamy breakfast smoothie that actually keeps you full. A ripe banana, fresh orange juice, a raw egg for protein, and a splash of vanilla get whirled together until thick and foamy.

The banana does double duty here: it adds natural sweetness so you don’t need any added sugar, and it creates that thick, milkshake-like texture. Use a ripe banana with brown spots for the best flavor and smoothest blend.

The raw egg adds body and protein without any eggy taste once it’s blended with the fruit. If raw eggs aren’t your thing, pasteurized eggs work the same way with less worry.

Kitchen Tips

  • Freeze banana chunks the night before for a thicker, colder smoothie without watering it down with ice
  • Break the banana into small pieces before blending so it incorporates evenly
  • Use freshly squeezed OJ if you can; the flavor difference over store-bought is noticeable

Variations

  • Add a tablespoon of peanut butter for extra protein and richness
  • Swap orange juice for mango nectar for a tropical twist
  • Toss in a handful of fresh strawberries for a sunrise-colored blend
