Ingredients
Peppers:
6 large green peppers
5 cups water
1 tsp salt
Filling:
1 lb ground beef
2 Tbsp. chopped onion
1 tsp. salt
1/8 tsp garlic salt
1 cup cooked rice
1 can (15 oz.) tomato sauce
Directions
Cut thin slice from stem end of each green pepper. Remove seeds and membranes. Heat water and 1 teaspoon salt until water boils. Cook peppers in boiling water for 5 minutes. Drain peppers. Cook and stir meat and onion in med skillet until onion is tender. Spoon off fat. Stir in salt, garlic salt, rice and 1 cup of the tomato sauce. Heat until hot
Heat oven to 350℉ (180℃). Lightly stuff each pepper with ½ cup meat mixture. Stand peppers upright in ungreased baking dish , 8×8×2 inches. Reserve ⅓ cup tomato sauce; pour remaining on peppers.
Cover tightly, bake 45 minutes. Pour reserved tomato sauce on peppers. Bake uncovered 15 minutes.
